Hi again! The school year is coming to an end, and so is our 20 Time Project. As we are wrapping things up, we will be creating one more outfit. The budget as always is $30. The outfits will be on the fancier side. I will be creating an outfit for myself that is nicer than normal because we will be wearing this outfit on the night of our 20 Time Ted Talk. The Ted Talk will be on April 30th. If you would like to hear about the end result of our project or see the newest outfit in person, come out to Civic Memorial. If you can not come out on that night, we will still be posting our outfit on our instagram. I will be purchasing the outfit anytime between now and April 30th. The exact date that it will be posted or the location that I am buying the outfit is not yet determined. Keep checking our blogs and instagram for more updates!

Hi again! Our newest outfit had a theme of New Year, New Me! The month of January went by fast and we didn’t have a lot of time to take pictures of our outfits. But we finally found the time to post!! This month's outfits were different than what we usually do. Instead of picking out outfits for ourselves, each of us picked out an outfit for another member of the group. I picked out and outfit for Maura, and Toni picked out an outfit for me. To do this we all went shopping together at our local Goodwill so we knew each others sizing. For Maura’s outfit, I wanted to pick out something that I thought she would like, but was out of her comfort zone. To do that I decided to get her a yellow turtleneck, a pair of black jeans, and a black belt. We styled this by tucking the turtleneck into the jeans, using the belt to tie the outfit together. Since we went to Goodwill, The prices were exceptionally good. The jeans cost $4.69, the sweater cost $3, and the belt cost $2. For my outfit, Toni picked out a solid green sweatshirt with a pair of black jeans. To spice up the outfit, Toni decided to crop the green sweatshirt. The sweatshirt is definitely something that I would wear on a daily basis, but I normally do not wear black jeans. But when I tried them on, I realized they were something that I needed to give a chance. This outfit was very cheap! Altogether it cost $4.50. Hi again! For our January outfits, we chose the theme New Year, New Me. We have decided to do something fun this month. In order to stick to our New Year's resolution of going out of our comfort zones, we have decided to pick out outfits for each other. I am going to pick an outfit for Maura, Toni will pick an outfit for me, and Maura will pick an outfit for Toni. We are hoping to all go shopping together in order for to get the right sizes. While we are there we can pick out multiple outfits and have the other person try them on so we know what looks right. We will either go shopping today(1/11/19) or tomorrow(1/12/19). I am planning on buying an outfit for Maura worth $30. We will either go to Goodwill or Ross. Maura’s normal style is a comfortable, but casual look. She is normally wearing leggings and a cute sweatshirt. I plan on buying an outfit for Maura that will get her out of her comfort zone. I am thinking about getting jeans or flowy pants. Tops may include crop tops or cute long sleeve shirts. My group and I hope to inspire many people to go out of their comfort zone with these outfits. We are trying to show how some clothing pieces can be surprisingly flattering even if you don’t know it. There is no harm in exploring and trying new things out. Our outfits will hopefully be on our Instagram in the next week. Keep checking our blogs for updates!
Hi again and happy 2019! As the start New Year has begun, I have decided to make some New Year's resolutions for this project. I’m truly sorry that I haven’t posted in a while. The holidays have been a very crazy time this year. During this crazy time, Bella, a member of this group moved to a different school. So sadly, she will no longer be in our group. But that brings me to my first New Year’s resolution. I personally want to begin to post more on this blog. I will hopefully post updates about the project every 1-2 weeks. When we first started this project, my group and I were kind of lost. But as soon as we came up with the idea of Bargain Buyers, we were very passionate about the concept. My role in this project has stayed the same since the beginning, to pick out affordable, but cute outfits to share with the public. As of now, we only have one outfit posted on our Instagram, the fall/winter outfit. Considering my group and I’s last outfits were very basic outfits, we have decided to set a group goal for this new year. We plan on picking out outfits that are in all different kinds of styles. For January, we have decided on the theme for our outfit, New Year, New Me. We will be picking out outfits for another group member. This will help us get out of our comfort zones with our outfits. We will still be staying within our $20-$30 budget. I am going to be picking out an outfit for Maura. To see the new outfit, visit our website and Instagram next Friday, 1/11/19!
We have recently been told that our presentation we will be giving about our project has been scheduled for April 30th. Our vision for April 30th is to have 4 outfits posted, plus the out we plan on wearing to the event that night. Times for the event have not yet been set. So stayed tuned to find out! Hi again! This weekend, I accomplished buying my first inexpensive outfit. I bought my outfit at Walmart in Wood River,IL. It was a short drive from where I live and very convenient. There are Walmarts all over the world so I am sure there is one close to you too. Since I bought this outfit in November, it was more of a fall type of outfit. It cost just under $26. I bought a pair of good jeans that were very comfortable considering the price. These jeans were only $16.87 which is a good price since the average jeans at any big name brand clothing store, such as American Eagle or Pacsun are $50 or more. For being under $20, these jeans were very stretchy and felt like they will last a while. In my opinion they were pretty similar to any jeans that would cost $30-$45. Although, I do suggest sizing up in Walmart’s jeans because they run pretty small. I bought a size 3. I also purchased a knit, army green sweater for $9. The sweater was a thick material that would keep anyone warm during the chilly fall. It was really soft and surprisingly not itchy for only being $9It had a criss cross detailing in the front with a knit hood. I got the sweater in a size small. To get a visual of our outfit you can go check out our instagram, thebargainbuyers. Also, continue to check our blogs and instagram for more outfits every month. Check back next time to see what the theme of December is!! Hi again! This week I am going to try and accomplish buying my first inexpensive outfit for the project. Our group goal is to try and buy the outfits by Thanksgiving. I have considered going to one of these three stores. I am hoping to go to our local Walmart, TJ Maxx, or Ross. I decided to go to Walmart, TJ Maxx, or Ross because there are many of those certain stores around the world. Therefore, anyone could go find the clothing items I pick out and copy the outfits. I am going to go on either Tuesday, November 20 or Wednesday, November 21. Our group has set ourselves at a reasonable budget of between $20 to $30. Since we are in the month of November, I am going to look at warm and cozy clothes. I will be shopping for warm shirts such as sweaters and cardigans or pants like jeans or leggings. I plan on posting an new update about the clothes I got next Friday, November 30. My group and I will also be posting pictures of our outfits on our instagram account. We will post individual pictures and group pictures. We will also be posting sizes and pricing. Check back next time to see what we post!
Hi, I'm Maddie! I am currently a freshman at Civic Memorial High School. I am a part of a group with Bella, Toni, and Maura. We have been assigned to do a project called the 20 Time Project. This project requires us to come up with something that benefits our community. To do this, we have decided to put together inexpensive outfits to show that everyone has an equal opportunity to wear outfits that they will feel happy in. On my blog, I will be posting weekly updates on how our project is going. Our overall goal is to give others the inspiration to wear cute, trendy and comfortable clothes even if they are on a tighter budget. We know that it is often hard to find cheap clothing, but we are here to show you that it is possible. We will go to local stores and shop for inexpensive items that we can create outfits with. Then, we will post a few outfits a month on our website and show were we got the clothes at. We will also soon have an Instagram account were we will be posting our monthly outfits. I hope our outfits can inspire you!
