I'm back! I am so sorry for being inactive recently, but I have some great news! Our TED talk is just around the corner. We have started working on our presentation for the night. We have also decided to create one final outfit. This outfit is going to be formal, because that is the attire of the night. My plan is to go to Goodwill and maybe Burlington to find some cute, fashionable options. I can't wait to show the community how far our project has come since the beginning. I am so proud of this group. Please try your hardest to come to the TED talk on April 30th! We hope to see as many people there as possible. It would mean a lot to our group. There will also be other groups showing their projects on that night. I know it would mean a lot to them, too.

Sorry for the wait, but we're back with another update! A lot has happened since our last post. We took the time on our snow day to take a trip to Goodwill. Maddie, Toni and I shopped around for nearly two hours just to find the perfect outfit. As previously mentioned in our last blog the theme of our outfit is New Year, New Me. To kick off 2019 I was tasked with buying an outfit for Toni. It took a little time, but I finally found the cutest pair of light-wash mom jeans. The top was the easiest of all. I had plenty of options to choose from. My final decision was a grey turtleneck sweater. Together the outfit was good, but it needed something else. The jewelry section didn't have anything I was interested in, so I made my way over to the bags and belts. Immediately, I found a black belt with a silver buckle. It truly completed the outfit. For my outfit Maddie was in charge. She really took me out of my comfort zone with a bright yellow turtleneck, a black belt and black jeans. Together it was a stylish outfit that was still something I never would have bought for myself. I'm very grateful for this outfit. I really enjoy trying new things. Everyone has given me very positive feedback so far, and I hope you feel the same. Stay up to date on our blogs to find out when we're posting next. Also, don't forget to go to our TED talk on April 17 to see the results and journey of our 20 Time Group. Thanks so much for reading!
I have some great news. We have set a date to get our next outfits. The theme for this outfit is New year, new me. As a group we decided that this year we need to take more risks and step outside of our level of comfort more. To do this we have decided to choose outfits for each other. Although we are all pretty close friends we have very different tastes. Toni describes her style as "athletic-ish". "I wear a lot of hoodies and leggings," she told me. With this being said I plan on putting her in jeans and a cute shirt. We discussed a budget for this project, and while I am going to try and stick with the $20 limit, I might go a little bit over just to ensure she likes the outfit. In our area the most convenient place to shop would be Goodwill and Ross. Everyone in our group loves these stores. They have a very diverse range of clothing. It should have something for everyone. Ross and Goodwill also offer a range of sizes. Although we are all around the same size just different heights. We hope to have our outfits posted sometime next week. Keep checking in for updates to see if our plan has changed. We're all very busy and it's hard to coordinate a time that works for all three of us to go shopping together. Bear with us and know that we are trying our best. See you soon!
I'd like to start out by saying Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful year, and I wish that this year brings you lots of great memories and experiences. With that being said, lets get down to business. This past year was when we began our project. Since the creation of The Bargain Buyers we have come so far. From first creating the idea, to creating our first post, and then finally creating our first outfit. At the beginning of the project we were challenging ourselves to find inexpensive outfits that we still thought we fashionable and cute. Now, our challenges have changed to making outfits that push us out of our comfort zone. This year we are really going to challenge ourselves to try new things with our outfits. Whether this is trying a new style, or taking advice from other group members with how to dress ourselves. My role as a group member has been to get my outfit and post about it. In this new year I want to focus less on myself and support my other group members more. We're all in this together and can only get closer as time goes on. My goal for the end of this project is to have our blog effect at least one person. If it can just help one person then I will be content. To help reach that one person my team can keep working hard to put forth great content, and give maximum effort until our final presentation on April 30th. With all that out of the way keep checking our blog to see any updates we might be posting. I'm super excited for what we have planned. I know you will love it just as much as I do!
This weekend I found some time to get my first outfit. It was a little bit of a drive, but I made a stop at Burlington on my way back home from other activities. I quickly found multiple things that really fit my style. It was just my luck that everything had to be a total of $21 or something just over my budget. Then, I found the perfect combo. It was a pair of light wash, mom jeans that happened to be a size too big. I took a chance and tried them on. The jeans ended up fitting perfectly. Next, I found two shirts that I couldn't decide between. One was a red striped, long sleeve shirt. The other was a long sleeve black shirt with a red and white stripe across the front. I ended up going with the second one, because it was cheaper. This left room for an extra accessory. In the checkout line I found a pair of adorable Christmas socks. I know this was supposed to be a Thanksgiving themed outfit, but I couldn't help but skip ahead and get in the Christmas spirit. I hope you can forgive me when you see the finished product!
My goal for this week is to get my clothes for my first outfit. I considered all of the places to go, and I came up with three stores. Ross, Walmart and Goodwill each have locations in my area. These are all easily accessible from where I live. Each of these places has the potential to provide me with a cute outfit for a great price. My theme for this outfit is a fall outfit. This is something you could wear to Thanksgiving festivities or just hanging out with friends. There are so many options at the stores listed. I know it will not be hard to find something. As a group, we decided that our budget would be $30 per outfit. However, Bella and I set a personal goal of $20. We think that we could find something that we like for that price. The outfit would include a top and a bottom, and if there is room in the budget left an accessory. After we find our outfits we are going to take pictures in them. We plan on posting an update of our outifts next week. Check back in to see them next week when we get them posted! My name is Maura and I'm a student at Civic Memorial High School. I have recently been assigned the 20 Time Project. My group is working towards finding cute outfits for low prices. This means that almost everyone has an equal opportunity at feeling comfortable and confident in what they are wearing no matter how little it costs them. My team and I understand what it feels like to think you have nothing to wear. This way you can have inspiration for a appealing outfit or buy these products for yourself! Our goal is to help our readers, and to do this we will be posting images for you to view. Hope you enjoy!
